Summer’s almost upon us, and with its advent comes a bevy of summer weddings. “A Wedding at Eagle Bluff Lighthouse – 1900” is an image I painted a number of years ago based on two photographs found at Eagle Bluff Lighthouse and at the Door County Maritime Museum. They inspired me to research the lighthouse keeper’s family and eyewitness accounts of the wedding. The painting captures all the love and fun of the celebration of the marriage of the lighthouse keeper’s son, Charles Duclon and his bride, Edith Gehrke of Baileys Harbor.
“A Wedding at Eagle Bluff Lighthouse – 1900” has always been one of my favorite paintings. The original is currently installed in the home of a Door County collector. However, I have limited edition, finely colored and detailed giclees of the original available for purchase. All the giclees are signed and numbered and come with the complete narrative of the wedding celebration as I researched and imagined it. One of these giclees would make a lovely wedding, bridal shower, or anniversary gift for the couple that loves Door County or has had a destination wedding in this very special part of Wisconsin! For size and price information, please visit my Historical Lighthouses page.
In addition, I have blank note cards available for purchase of “A Wedding at Eagle Bluff Lighthouse – 1900.” They would make charming wedding invitations or thank-you notes. Please contact me for more information!
